PhD Professor Cibelle Celestino Silva

Graduated in Physics from the University of Sao Paulo (1993), Master’s degree and Doctorate in Physics from the State University of Campinas in Physics, in the History of Physics; Postdoctoral in the History and Theory of Science Group (UNICAMP). She was a Dibner Library Resident Scholar at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC (2004-2005) and a Visiting Research Fellow at The Bakken Museum, Minneapolis (2014). She was director of the International History, Philosophy, and Science Teaching Group (IHPST) and the Southern Cone Association of Philosophy and History of Science (AFHIC), coordinated the Dietrich Schiel Observatory of the Center for Scientific and Cultural Dissemination of the University of São Paulo (CDCC-USP). Her main research interests are in the history of optics and electromagnetism, and physics teaching, particularly the historical-investigative approach in teacher education.
