Abstract: Great thinkers of all time endeavoured to understand the beginning of the universe. The search for such an understanding arose in myth, developed in philosophy and, at last, acquired a scientific style. Although many proposals have been framed, there is no final answer.
    This book presents several attempts to reach the origin of everything. It discusses religious, philosophical and scientific approaches, from the oldest ideas to contemporary theories. Through this historical study, the reader is invited to join one of the greatest intelectual journeys of mankind.
